Following the immensely successful Maslenitsa Festival in 2009, Angliya will support the second festival at Potters Fields Park drawing on the strengths of the previous event,
whilst introducing new exciting Russian acts to the people of London.
Maslenitsa is a traditional occasion to celebrate Russian culture celebrated with masquerades, snowball fights, sledding, riding on swings and plenty of sleigh rides.
Traditionally, Russians prepare pancakes with all sorts of fillings to eat them with family and friends. Maslenitsa is bliny (Russian pancakes), popularly taken to symbolize the sun.
In this free family-friendly festival the aim is to present a spectacular line-up of Russian culture for both Russians living in London and British people interested in Russian culture, and music and dance generally.
Angliya celebrated its birthday by holding elegant champagne reception in Divo - luxury restaurant with Russian, Ukrainian, modern European cuisine.
Streams of bubbly marked the 4th birthday function attended by more than 200 guests.
Over the years Angliya has evolved into the most influential Russian language newspaper occupying a prominent position among the Russian press.
Its distribution has grown to more than 70 000 weekly readers as the newspaper secured a number of partnerships with regional distributors across the UK.
